Elder Robbins Tacna Peru update

Hello all, this is Elder Robbins mom.  I just wanted to give you an update of Sam's mission over the last little while.  

He is keeping busy serving the people of Tacna Peru.  His love of the Peruvian people continues to grow.

He has been serving for almost 11 months.  His mission president Douglas Johnson has completed his three years.  The new president Richard Marsh has started his mission this week. Sam had an opportunity to meet him yesterday.

Here is a list of Sam's companions with the dates and areas he has been.

Elder Fillmore - Peru Lima MTC (August 29 - October 7)
Elder Lira - Arequipa Bueno Aires (October 8 - January 1)
Elder Hughes - Ilo El Faro (January 1 - March 25)
Elder Jimenez - Tacna Belen (March 25 - May 27)
Elder Lyman - Tacna Belen (May 27 - June 17)
Elder Gomez - Tacna Belen (June 17 to now)

Sam is now serving as District Leader.  He has done a couple of baptism interviews and is learning a new role of leadership.

In Tacna now it is winter and nights are relatively cold.  He hasn't seen any rain since coming to Peru.  In all of his areas he has had a pensionista (a person who cooks/clean).  He loves the Peruvian food.

There are many dogs in his areas.  He has been attacked multiple times, just last week he and Elder Gomez were attacked by two dogs.  He now carries a little stun gun that scares the dogs away but doesn't hurt them.

Hello all this week is going well and I dont really have any updates this week. We did find another person to teach. She is the daughter of a member who is less-active. Her name is Milagros (miracles in english). They are a really good family and they are really good at ping pong. I think this is the best I have been at ping pong. We are also teaching the girls friend, who could be her boyfriend, who is named Fabian, or Chile as his nicknamed. They are both interested and the girl has as baptism goal for the 15th of June. But that about sums up the week. I also bought a lot of soccer jerseys. They are cheap here and that makes it really easy to buy them. I love you all and I hope you all have a good week!!

Hello all, This week has been an interesting one. We are still on the search for people to teach and the weather is getting colder. My companion now is Elder Lyman from Vegas and he is about ready to finish his mission. And the Arequipa temple will be dedicated a day after my birthday Dec, 15 so that will be exciting. But all is going well and I am so grateful for all your support and I love you all so much!!!
